Impacts of Acid Rain

Acid rain comes from the pollution of the air with sulphur dioxide and nitrogen oxides when we burn coal, oil and gas in power stations to generate electricity or drive our cars. Acid rain can be harmful to the environment, including wildlife, trees and lakes, and can damage buildings. Acid rain affects countries far away from the source of the air pollution. Sweden and Norway for example, receive a lot of acid rain because of air pollution coming from the UK.
