Forecasting

Weather forecasters measure the weather so they can forecast it. Temperature, rainfall, wind, clouds, sunshine and air pressure are measured all over the country and the information is plotted on special charts. These weather charts have been used by forecasters for many years to predict what the weather will do over the next few days. Weather presenters often show simplified charts on the television.

Today, sophisticated equipment is used to help forecast the weather. Weather radar can help to show where it is raining over a country, whilst satellites are used to reveal cloud cover and the development of large weather systems.
