Ultraviolet Radiation

Ultraviolet (UV) rays are a form of energy that comes from the Sun. Scientists call rays radiation. UV radiation is split into 3 different categories, UV-A, UV-B and UV-C. UV-A is the weakest form of UV radiation, whilst UV-C is the strongest. Fortunately, all UV-C radiation is blocked by the ozone layer. Some UV-B and most UV-A however, can pass through the ozone layer, and reach the Earth surface. UV-B radiation reaching the surface can cause sunburn, which may one day lead to skin cancer. If we damage the ozone layer, we will let in more UV radiation, which will be harmful not just to people, but to other forms of wildlife as well.
